When you have children with multiple food allergies, you can’t rely on grabbing pizza, popping frozen nuggets in the oven, or asking someone else to drop off a meal. Sickness, travel, and hectic evenings require planning ahead. Below are seven of my favorite allergy-friendly freezer meals—gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and nut-free—so your freezer is always stocked with safe, satisfying dinners.

As I prepare for our new baby, I made a batch of freezer meals so feeding my family will be simple, safe and homemade once the baby arrives. Many readers asked for this list, so here is a week’s worth of allergy-friendly freezer-friendly dinners you can make and store.

Allergy-friendly Taco Soup
This hearty soup is filled with beans, corn, tomatoes and warming spices. I use ground chicken instead of red meat and a homemade taco seasoning to keep it gluten- and dairy-free. A touch of brown sugar balances the flavors. Serve with corn chips or allergy-friendly cornbread.
Freezer instructions: Make the soup, cool completely, then portion into freezer-safe bags or containers. Lay flat to freeze. To reheat, thaw enough to remove from the bag and warm gently on the stovetop until heated through.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Chipotle Pork Tacos
Sweet, smoky and slightly spicy, this slow-cooker pork makes tender taco meat with bold flavor. For quick meals, serve on corn tortillas with fresh guacamole and pico de gallo. If you like, add a side of Mexican-style rice.
Freezer instructions: Blend the sauce ingredients (except beans and the roast) and pour over the pork in a freezer bag. Add drained black beans. Freeze flat. When ready to cook, pour bag contents into the slow cooker, cook on low for 6–8 hours, then shred the pork and serve.
Make sure to buy fresh toppings like guacamole and pico close to serving time.

Allergy-friendly Ragu
This robust, meaty ragu is perfect with gluten-free pasta. The sauce has both meat and vegetables, so it’s a complete, comforting main. I recommend freezing the sauce only—gluten-free noodles are best cooked fresh.
Freezer instructions: Prepare the sauce and cool it fully. Freeze in freezer-safe bags or containers. When ready to serve, heat the sauce and cook pasta fresh according to package instructions. Combine and serve with a side of steamed or roasted vegetables.

Asian Quinoa Meatballs
These quinoa-and-pork meatballs are a family favorite—tender, flavorful and egg- and breadcrumb-free. They’re seasoned with Asian-inspired flavors and hold together beautifully because of the quinoa.
Freezer instructions: Make the meatballs, cool them, and freeze on a tray before transferring to a bag or container. To reheat, thaw, then bake at 350°F for about 10–12 minutes until heated through. Serve over rice with steamed broccoli.

Instant Pot Chicken Cacciatore
This chicken cacciatore is a quick, saucy pasta topper made using chicken rather than sausage. It works well from frozen chicken breasts and comes together fast in an Instant Pot or slow cooker.
Freezer instructions: Prepare the tomato-based sauce and chicken, cool, then freeze in bags or containers. Keep pasta in the pantry and cook fresh when serving. Reheat the sauce, boil pasta, then combine.

Potato and Sausage Soup
A spicy, comforting soup packed with sausage, potatoes and vegetables—this one’s a kid favorite and great for thermos lunches. It can be made in an Instant Pot or slow cooker.
Freezer instructions: Cool the cooked soup, portion into freezer bags or containers, and freeze flat. Thaw enough to remove from the bag and reheat on the stovetop until hot.

Slow Cooker Green Chile Enchilada Soup
This creamy-feeling, southwest-style soup is made in the slow cooker and is both spicy and comforting. It’s a regular request among friends for good reason.
Freezer instructions: Cool, portion into freezer bags or containers, freeze flat, then thaw and reheat on the stovetop when ready to serve. Top as desired.

Breakfasts freeze well too
Don’t forget breakfast: vegan banana french toast and allergy-friendly pancakes freeze nicely. Reheat in a toaster oven for quick school mornings or busy weekends.
